প্রশ্ন উঠতে পারে, এতোদিন পর এ সকল পুরানো কথা আলোচনার কী কোন প্রয়োজন আছে? আমার মতে অন্য কোন প্রয়োজন না থাকলেও ইতিহাসের একটা দায় আছে। সে দায় মুক্তির খাতিরেই এর অবতারনা।

৮২ সালের কোন এক সকাল। চায়ের বাক্স রিক্সায় তুলে সে বাক্সের উপর আমি উঠে বসলাম। রিক্সা চালককে বললাম, ‘চলো চলো, বন্দর চলো।’ বন্দর মানে বন্দর বাজার, সিলেট শহরের আদি ব্যবসা-বানিজ্যের কেন্দ্রস্থল।

ঢাকা থেকে সিলেট এসেছি। সদ্য বিয়ে করেছি। চাকরি নেই। টাকা পয়সা নেই। যারা এক সময় খুব ঘনিষ্ট বন্ধু ছিল তারাও এখন ঘনিষ্ট নয়। এক বন্ধু আবদুল কাইয়ূম। আরেক বন্ধু মকবুল আহমদ। এ দু জন সাহায্যের হাত প্রসারিত করলেন। তাদের সাহায্য ছাড়া সিলেট শহরে আমার দাঁড়াবার ঠাঁই হতো না। আল্লাহ তাদের ভালো কাজের পুরস্কার দিবেন। মকবুল আহমদের স্ত্রী মনোয়ারা আহমদের বড় ভাই মোহাম্মদ ফারুক মৌলভীবাজার শহরে চায়ের ব্যবসা করেন। মোহাম্মদ ফারুক চট্রগ্রাম থেকে নিলামে চা খরিদ করে আনেন। তিনি খরিদমূল্যে আমাকে চা সরবরাহ করতে সম্মত হলেন। আব্দুল কাইয়ূম দিলেন ব্যবসার পুজি। আম্বরখানা বাজারে একটা দোকান ভাড়া নিয়ে চা ব্যবসা শুরু করলাম। চা ব্যবসা মানে চয়ের দোকান নয়, চা-পাতার দোকান। সিলেট শহরে তখন বন্দর বাজার, মহাজনপট্টি এবং কালিঘাট ছিল ব্যবসার কেন্দ্র।

ফুট ফরমায়েশ এবং আমার অনুপস্থিতিতে দোকানে বসার জন্যে সামান্য বেতনে একটি ছেলে রাখলাম। ছেলেটির নাম বাবুল। বড়াপার পেছনের বাসায় থাকে, ভালো পরিবারের ছেলে। ফারুক ভাই নিলামে চা কিনে আমার কাছে পাঠিয়ে দিতেন। ১৫/২০টা চায়ের বাক্স এক সাথে পাঠাতেন। কয়েকটা বাক্স খুলে পলিথিনের প্যাকেট করে দোকানে সাজিয়ে রাখতাম খুচরা বিক্রির জন্যে। বাকিগুলো বন্দরবাজার, কালিঘাট এবং মহাজনপট্টির কয়েকজন ব্যবসায়ীর কাছে অল্প লাভে বিক্রি করে দিতাম। তাদের কাছে চায়ের বাক্স রিক্সায় করে নিজেই নিয়ে যেতাম। কোন সময় বাবুলকে দিয়ে পাঠাতাম। চায়ের বাক্সের উপর বসে বন্দর বাজার, মহাজনপট্টি এবং কালিঘাটে চক্কর দেয়া প্রতি মাসের কাজ ছিল।

সারাদিন ব্যস্ত সময় কাটতো। অপেক্ষা করতাম কখন সন্ধ্যা হবে। সন্ধ্যার পর ছোট্ট চায়ের দোকানে বন্ধুদের অনেকে আসতেন। তরুণ সাহিত্যকর্মীদের সাথে মুরব্বীরাও আসতেন। স্বানমধন্য গবেষক অধ্যাপক আসাদ্দর আলী আসতেন। সিলেট আলীয়ার উস্তাদ মাওলানা জহুর আহমদ আসতেন। প্রায়ই আসতেন দুজন প্রিয় বন্ধু হারুনুজ্জামান চৌধুরী এবং আব্দুল হামিদ মানিক। দোকান বন্ধ করে বেরিয়ে পড়তাম তাদের সাথে আড্ডা দিতে। কখনো যেতাম চায়ের দোকানে গরম পিয়াজু অথবা হারুনুজ্জামান চৌধুরীর প্রিয় শিক কাবাব খেতে। কখনো যেতাম বিভিন্ন পত্রিকা অফিসে। আব্দুল হামিদ মানিক তখন চাকরি করতেন মুকতাবিস-উন-নূরের সম্পাদনায় প্রকাশিত সিলেট কন্ঠে। হারুনুজ্জামান চৌধুরীছিলেন সাপ্তাহিক জালালাবাদ’র সম্পাদক। প্রধানতঃ এ দুটি পত্রিকার অফিসেই আমরা যেতাম। বাসায় ভালো খাবার থাকলে মাঝে মাঝে দু জনকে নিয়ে বাসায় চলে আসতাম।

সিলেট শহরে আমি অপরিচিত ছিলাম না। দীর্ঘদিন এ শহরে থেকে লেখাপড়া করেছি। রাস্তায় মিছিলে নেতৃত্ব দিয়েছি, বন্দর এবং কোর্ট পয়েন্টে বক্তৃতা করেছি। সাহিত্য সভায় কবিতা পড়েছি, সুধী সমাবেশে আলোচনা রেখেছি। শহরে অনেক বন্ধু, অনেক আত্মীয়-স্বজন এবং অনেক পরিচিত জন রয়েছেন। আমার অবস্থা দেখে কেউ মুখ টিপে হাসতো। কেউ রিক্সা থামিয়ে কুশল জিজ্ঞাসা করতো। কেউ হঠাৎ দেখে চমকে উঠতো। বিস্ময়ের সাথে জিজ্ঞেস করতো, ‘রেজা ভাই? কবে এলেন?’

বলতাম, ‘আসিনি, আছি।’

– কোথায় আছেন?

– শাহী ঈদগাহ, সৈয়দ পুর হাউস।

– নিজের বাসা?

– না, দুলাভাইয়ের বাসা। তবে সৈয়দ পুর হাউস নামটা আমার দেয়া।

– সেই সুবাদে আছেন?

– না, তাদের অনেকগুলো বাসা আছে। একটিতে আমি ভাড়া থাকি।

– বাসায় কে কে আছেন?

– আমি আর আমার বউ। ছোটভাই ময়েজ। আম্মা-আব্বা মাঝে মাঝে আসেন।

– কি করেন?

– দেখছেন না কি করছি? আম্বরখানায় চা-পাতার ব্যবসা করি।

– চা-পাতার ব্যবসা!

– কেন, এটা কি দোষের? আমি কি চুরি করছি?

– না, চুরি নয়। তবে ব্যবসা করলে বড় কিছু করবেন। নতুবা বড় কোন চাকরি করবেন। সবচেয়ে বড় কথা, ঢাকায় থাকবেন। সিলেটে আপনাকে মানায় না। ছাত্র শিবিরের কেন্দ্রিয় নেতা আম্বরখানায় চা-পাতার ব্যবসা করবেন, এটা মেনে নেয়া যায় না।

– আপনি না মানলেও আমি মেনে নিয়েছি।

এ কথোপকথন কাল্পনিক নয়, বাস্তব। একবার নয়, বার বার এ সকল কথার জবাব দিতে হয়েছে। আমার বড়াপা একদিন বললেন,

– তোমার ভাগিনা কি বলে জানো?

– কি বলে?

সে বলে, ‘বড়মামা এতো লেখাপড়া করে চায়ের পাতার ব্যবসা করেন এটা বলতে লজ্জা লাগে।’

বন্ধুরা যা-ই বলুক এবং ভাগিনারা যা-ই ভাবুক, এ ভাবেই সিলেটে আমার নতুন জীবন শুরু হয়।

ঢাকার অনেক বন্ধুর কাছেও প্রশ্ন ছিল, কেন আমি সিলেট চলে এলাম? কেন ঢাকায় থাকলাম না? কিন্তু আমার কাছে এটা কোন প্রশ্নই ছিল না। সে সময় আমার কাছে বড় প্রশ্ন ছিল, কেন ঢাকায় এলাম? বাইরে ছিলাম, অনেক ভালো ছিলাম। অনেক স্বপ্ন ছিল, অনেক সুধারণা ছিল, অনেক আশা ছিল। ঢাকায় গিয়ে দীর্ঘদিন স্বযত্নে লালিত স্বপ্নসৌধ ভেঙে চুরমার হয়ে গেছে।

আসলে আমার ঢাকায় আসার কথা ছিল না। চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ছিলাম। চট্টগ্রাম শহরের দায়িত্বে ছিলাম। এমএ পরীক্ষার শেষ দিন ইউনিভার্সিটি এপ্রোচে এসে ভার্সিটিকে সালাম জানিয়ে বলেছিলাম, বিদায় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, বিদায়! পাশ করলেও বিদায়, ফেল করলেও বিদায়। আর ছাত্র হিসেবে তোমার অঙ্গনে পা দেবো না। পাশ করলে সিলেটের কোন কলেজে মাস্টারি জোগাড় করে লেখালেখির জগতে চলে যাব। এমএ পাশ করতে না পারলে দেখবো সিলেটে কোন পত্রিকায় সুযোগ পাওয়া যায় কি না। বিয়ে করবো, মা-বাবার সাথে থাকবো, লেখালেখি করবো। কিন্তু এম এ পরীক্ষার ফল বের হবার আগেই সব কিছু ওলট-পালট হয়ে গেলো।

How an Indian prominent journalist sees Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in his realization

“Prime minister Modi,s visit to dhaka was to shore up support for declining image of Hasina. This untimely visit has increased anti-Indian sentiments because New Delhi is not seen as neutral.” This is the opinion of a prominent journalist and a former diplomat of India Kuldip Nayar. He states in today’s “The Statesman”  “I do not know why and for how long we have to support the authoritarian rule by Prime Minister Hasina in Bangladesh. True, she is the daughter of Sheikh Mujib-ur Rehman, who liberated East Pakistan from distant and oppressive West Pakistan. But that does not give her the right to flout the Constitution and accepted norms.”

“Bangladesh, a product of the people’s right to a say in governance, has lost the vigour of expression which the nation once had. This is a sad development by itself. But it becomes all the more poignant when the person changing it is from the family which liberated the people from the clutches of West Pakistan.”

“No one else is to blame except Hasina. She is herself extinguishing the flame of democracy. That it should be done by the daughter of Sheikh Mujib is not only disappointing but also disconcerting. That she can shackle the nation still further is a harrowing thought. But it can happen since she has effaced the lines between right and wrong, moral and immoral.”

In this atmosphere of Hasina representing a dictatorial figure, Modi’s visit was all the more unfortunate. He should have said somewhere while in Bangladesh that the country was a product of revolution and it should continue to radiate the same kind of thoughts. But he preferred to placate her even though the people of Bangladesh were disappointed because they expected India to give some sign that it is not happy with the way Hasina is functioning.”

He pointed out the vote rigging of recent Dhaka Municipal polls by the rulling Awamileage to the horror of voters and othe neutral observers. He accept the fact the had BNP went to the polls in the last election, Hasina would have made every attempt and would have gone to any extent to win the election. It is surprising that many in Bangladesh don’t see accept that Hasina is a dictator while an Indian from New Delhi is able to see and conclude the truth that there is no democracy in Bangladesh. The solution to our problem is not staying silent and not doing anything about it, rather the solution is doing something and letting the dictaor know that we will not be silent.

Indian government should reflect deeply on Bangladesh crisis

The west, especially the USA is always in the habit of taking advantage of political instability in 3^rd world countries. Today’s visit by the EU diplomat to Sheikh Hasina and USA newly appointed diplomat recent meeting with government official, partly underscores this notion that behind all their apparent show, there rest a hidden agenda and that is to secure maximum economic benefits for their multinational companies to the detriment of national and local interest of Bangladeshi businesses. I do not believe the USA has a genuine intention to restore democracy in Bangladesh. There is a sinister motive behind the motive of USA which is very deep and has more to do with china’s rise in the world stage. The weak and unpopular Bangladeshi government are more incline to give away to foreign demands more easily than a democratically elected legal government. If you look at their recent statements on Bangladesh, you would notice that in every instance their visit subject matter is always more to do with securing their business interest than genuinely seeking for an end to political impasse. Instead of pressuring the unpopular and illegally elected government to step down, they indirectly supports the government by alluding to put blame on opposition for violence. They intentionally avoid mentioning or condemning government law enforcement agencies for indiscriminate killings of protesters in the name of cross fire, and in many cases forceful abduction and subsequent killings of opposition activists. It is widely reported that many of the recent petrol bomb attack on innocent people were instigated by direct orders of the ruling Awami party Ministers and MP’s to demonise the opposition in order to turn opinion against the opposition. But this ploy by the government is proving to be ineffective, as the general populace does not believe in government propaganda, since all the evidence based on police and impartial media reports proves otherwise. Unlike the position taken by foreign diplomat in Bangladesh who intentionally avoids accepting the truth that acts of petrol bomb attack are a false flag operation instigated by the government for propaganda purposes. In any case, some act of violence that may come from the opposition activists are a natural reaction of police brutality on the opposition activists and due to long term suppression of their political rights. This trend is bound to increase with time if political rights are not restored.

What is surprising is that our neighbour Indian government fails to understand how cleverly the USA is manipulating politics in that region for  their own geo-political interest. The USA is very cleverly building up instability and fermenting political tension in Bangladesh so that in the long run this will lead to instability in Indian seven sisters, increase in militant activities, which is always the case when political rights are being suppressed, and this no doubt, will create opportunities for the USA to be actively involved in military activities in the name of preventing terrorism, as is the case in Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, and Ukraine. Suppressing rights of any population does not help in the long term to bring peace , progress and instability in any country rather this kind of political suppression always leads to violence and militancy, which no doubt, will spread to the neighbouring country India. Neighbour India should have been cleverer to understand that a stable, peaceful, and democratic government based on strong and genuine democratic institution mandated by the free votes of people will best serve Indian interest in Bangladesh, and in the long term this will put an end to the USA back door political influence in the region. India’s present Modi government must seek to address Bangladesh issue in good faith if it wants a stable future for its bordering states and this can never be achieved by supporting fascist Hasina government or staying on the middle of the fence.  

Our rights are not always given to us but it has to be taken

We are living in the 18^th Century culture of slavery in Bangladesh that had existed in USA, at least this is the picture we get from the ruling elite of illegal Hasina,s government. We are no longer free people in Bangladesh, but we have a master slave relationship with government as it stands now. Sheikh Selim said today, “ খালেদা জিয়া হাসিনার পা ধরে মাফ ছাইলে সংলাপ হতে পারে” if this is the language of Awami leaders to a 3 time elected prime minister, than no one could expect any peaceful resolution of this master slave relationship. And adding to this insult just consider what the sleeping ugly social welfare minister Mohsin Ali said today, “কোর্টের বিচার আর দরকার নেই দেখামাত্র গুলির সিদ্ধান্ত নিচ্ছে সরকার, “Shot on site” all this statements coming from ministers tell us that this fascist government regards and values no life and believes in their invincibility and power of the gun.

 

Now back in mist of time, this very party which has now become our masters told us to fight for our independence and freedom, based on equality, dignity, social justice and so on. Yet now this very party is acting and behaving like colonial powers against the people. If our people don’t realise this and do not act strongly and decisively with force, we may have to live in slavery and never be proud of our history to say that we are a free nation. Our leaders must not sit idle, our youths and students must not sleep until they free our country from slavery and tyranny. Let them fight like brave tigers day and night against those who attack them. Our leaders must provide them with tools to fight those criminal who arrests our people and later shot them in the name of crossfire. This bullish behaviour can not be allowed to continue. Every freedom loving people with some dignity and consciousness should come out in defence of the people and their rights. It is a must for our Nation as a whole that we defeat this fascist evil regime of Sheikh Hasina if we want to be a free nation again. Rights are not always given to us, but it has to be taken by force, and this mean the tyrant has to be made to face the fate of Ben Ali, Gaddafi, or Saddam Hussain. Just stop reading for a moment and ask your self these questions, would you be prepared to live in a country where casting your votes would mean nothing because the result would have been already decided. Would you like to live in a country where your rightful opinion would mean facing abduction, arrest or even be killed? Would you like to live in a country where your children would learn no moral values, where survival, success, and dignity depends on accepting what is been told?  If not, then none can keep quiet, and none can sit idle. When our beloved country was attacked by our enemy who wanted to subdue us, it us by and large the ordinary people like you fought to secure our freedom. This movement success no longer depends on a few leaders; it has transferred to people like you. Each one of you has a duty to fight bravely for your rights as you have done in the past for freedom. The fascist Hasina,s government is illegitimate by none confidence of the people casting only 10% of the vote, and more than 153 constitution no vote was cast. A house of a person is his property, and when someone forcefully occupies it, it becomes a duty for its residence to remove him by all means, similarly I believe, a country is the property of the people, and when someone occupies its treasury and parliament forcefully, it becomes a duty on the people of the country to remove them by whatever means. A sign of fascist regime desperateness is the recent blocking on Tango, viber and whats app. These measures will too fail to achieve anything tangible. Activists should use old ways of communication that of human messengers between them, and other available medium that can be accessed. Fascist illegal government is shaking so keep up the pressure by and hopefully within a month or two, everything will be over.

 

 

How to bring down a dictator

Bringing down a dictator is like a wood cutter with an axe trying to cut down a mighty tree, he can’t make it fall in one day, but each morning, he chops away at it. Each morning a little bit more. And one day while he is sleeping, the tree will fall. This is exactly how resilient and wise people of Bangladesh should fight the fascist Sheikh Hasina regime, never stop or lose hope, because with persistence and perseverance even a mighty mountain could be moved. Increase and diversify the intensity of  this movement to free our country, the hunger strike in front of British House of parliament recently will get media and international attention. Leaders should make it clear to the world that they can not support fascism against the will of the people, and that means international coordination with world leaders. But importantly at home we need to get people from all parties involved, especially those parties that have not yet come out in the streets, this requires diplomacy, coordination and a lot of persuasion.

বিএনপি নেত্রীর মাথা খারাপ না হাসিনার মাথা খারাপ ?

অহংকার আর দাম্বিকে পরিপূর্ণ আওয়ামী নেতাদের কথা শুনলে মনে হয় যেন এদের জন্ম হয়েছে নর্দমায়। একতো অন্যায় করতেছে, জোর করে ক্ষমতায় আছে, অতচ যারা মানুষের ন্যায্য অধিকার প্রতিস্টিত করতে চায় তাদের সাথে টাট্রা মশকারা করতেছে। সোহরাওয়ার্দী উদ্যোনে তাদের আয়োজিত চেতনার সমাবেশকে পুজি করে sarcastically বলতেছে ‘ ভাই খবর পাইচেনত?” ভারতের সরকারের গোলামদের মুখ থেকে এরকম কথাই আশা করা যায়। কারণ তারাইতো গোলামির দড়ি ১৭ কোটি মানুষের গলায় পরিয়ে দিয়েছে। আমার আশ্চর্য হয় যারা ঐ সব অনৈতিক, দাম্ভিক এবং ইতর নেতাদেরকে অনুসরণ করে। এই সব লোকের চুখ কি নাই, তাদের বিবেক বুদ্ধি কি নাই, তাদের যদি চুখ না থাকে, কান দিয়ে শুনতে না পারে তবুওতো একটি অন্তর আছে, এরাই কি এতই খারাপ যে দেশের ভাল মন্দ বুজে না, তাদের কথাই না হয় বাদ দিলাম, অন্ততপক্ষে তাদের সন্তান্দের ভবিষ্যতের কথা চিন্তা করে জনগণকে এই হারামি  ডাকাতদের কাছ থেকে উদ্ধার করার জন্য সচেষ্ট হতে পারত। কিন্তু না, দলে দলে ইতরদের সমাবেশে যোগ দিয়ে, মাথা উঁচু করে, ব্যানার উড়িয়ে পাগলের মত বলতে থাকে, ‘ যা বুজার বুজেন , আমারা ইতরের অনুসারী, আমাদের কাছে ন্যায় অনন্যায়, নীতি নৈতিকতা বলতে কিছু নাই। আমরা শুধু টাকার আর ক্ষমতার গোলামি করতে ভালবাসি। ‘ আমরা দাম্বিক অহংকার ইতরের অনুসারী, আমরা হাসিনা, মায়া, হানিফ, কামরুলদের সেবাকারী, আমরা এই নীতিতে বিশ্বাসী যে, জুর যার মুলুক তার। আর এই ভাবেই আমরা জঙগণের আওয়াজকে স্তব্দ করে দিব। কেই কিচু করতে পারবে না আর আমাদের কিছু শয়তান রয়েছে, তাদের কাজই হচ্ছে শয়তানীতে আমাদের সাহযেগিতা করা আর তারা হচ্ছে ইনু মেনু, কাল বিড়াল, হাসান মাহমুদ, H, T ইমামদের মত আরো অনেক, যারা হাসিনাকে ভাল ভাল শয়তানী বুদ্ধি দেয়” ।

কিন্তু আমি বলি, বেশী বেশী হাস না, কারণ বেশী দাম্বিক হাসি আল্লাহ্‌ পছন্দ করেন না। ইতিহাস থেকে শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করা উচিৎ। তোমাদের সামনেইত বড় বড় স্বৈরশাসক জুলুমবাজদের পতন হয়েছে, তারাইত তেমাদের চেয়েও শক্তিশালী ছিল। এখন শুধু সময়য়ের ব্যাপার, অচিরেই তোমাদের সময় আসবে। ইনশাল্লাহ

Democratic movement to free the country from illegal Fascist Hasina regime is gaining popular support from the public

We are getting good results from this blockade. More and more people are joining in and realizing the need to rescue our freedom and democracy from illegal, undemocratic, lying fascist regime. BAL leaders are getting worried and nervous, and soon sensible Awami leaders will feel the need to leave Sheikh Hasina to her destruction, because the time is nearing for the big crunch. It is advisable for those leaders to leave the country otherwise if they stay behind people will peel their skin alive for the crime they have committed against the people. The blockade should intensify like a destructive tornado. The people have the weapon of truth on their side while Fascist Sheikh Hasina has lies, and hypocrisy on her side. We should continue with the blockade as long as it takes with all means available to us. No amount of torture from the Gupali Bal police will be able to stop our Nation firebrand desire to achieve freedom from Tyranny. Our youths, leaders and students have the upper hand and they know how to drag this fascist illegal dictator from power. Once more our people will achieve true independence, and by God willing it will come soon. We only need to be patient and continue with this blockade and intensify it more.
